Mindful Consumption

There used to be a saying “Garbage in, garbage out.” I believe that the original phrase pertained to computer data, but it applies to many other things as well. Like many people, I find myself occasionally mesmerized by online content. Not all of this content is garbage, but I do feel that I have been consuming a smaller percentage of high quality information. I understand the connection between what I consume and what I ultimately produce in the studio. So, I am trying to be more mindful to balance my consumption and to document information that is actually pertinent to my practice.

One way to balance the influence of online content is to actually participate in life. I know that is hardly a shocking revelation. However, these platforms are designed to skew your perception. I feel that there has been a recent decline in my . I am not willing to sacrifice my mind on the basis of convenience. So…..you are going to hear about this research from time to time.
