Care and Handling of Encaustic Artwork: Works of encaustic art naturally develop a slightly hazy, matte patina over time. Many collectors prefer the matte finish. However, a gloss finish can be maintained with a little bit of care. Simply buff the surface lightly with a soft cotton cloth. Encaustic art can be framed without glass. Avoid heat and direct sunlight. Protect the surface during transport.
